Katarina Witt started skating at the age of five. When her talent for skating became more apparent and she was accepted into the Karl-Marx-Stadt school that specializes in children who have a athletic talent. They met Jutta Muller here. Witt made her breakthrough year in 1982, when she came second in the World Championships held in Copenhagen. Since then, her elegance and grace have caught all the attention of people. Olympic triumph at the Sarajevo Winter Games of 1984, Katarina Witz won the ladies' bronze medal for figure skating in an intense contest. In a more competitive competition, afterward, she took home the medal. While she was unable to win the competition for free skating, the gold was awarded for her performance on the compulsory figures as well as the program in short form. Witt was the first repeated woman to win the women's figure skating since Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame After enjoying the success of an actress, Witt returned to the sport in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games. The team finished seventh, but she wowed the crowd even though she didn't win an award. Witt was named to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame by the members of it in 1995.
